Most people who contact an acupuncturist do so because they are feeling unwell. Did you know though that acupuncture can also be helpful in promoting and maintaining good health through maintenance care?
Get Better Get Well Stay Well
From your first session, acupuncture treatment usually follows three distinct phases
- Acute care. Treatment once or twice a week to resolve symptoms
- Consolidation care. Strengthening your constitution and ensuring that your body is able to repair itself. Visits spread out until condition is minimised or resolved
- Maintenance care. Prevent your symptoms from returning or nip problems in the bud. Less frequent visits
How Often Should I Have Maintenance Care?
Since each treatment is individually tailored to your circumstances. There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Acupuncture works cumulatively, every treatment building on the last. I will typically see maintenance patients somewhere between monthly and at the turn of the seasons. As a general rule if your symptoms return between visits then the gap is too long.
Traditional acupuncture has a strong emphasis on diagnosis through seeing, touching and listening. Acupuncturists are trained to recognise small shifts in the body’s function and to correct the imbalances before they grow into something larger. More
Most of us spend more time caring for our cars than we do for our bodies. Just like with our cars, preventative acupuncture can save you time, energy and money in the long run. It is a great way to be proactive and to maximise your effectiveness in everyday life.
Say yes to maintenance care. Listen to your heart.
